This is a general guide on how to get an EU Blue Card.

1. If your salary is 1.5x the average monthly gross salary in Lithuania ~€2684 follow this guide:

Step 1

Get all your documents ready

 

  • Completed application form;
  • Passport;
  • The number of the mediation letter submitted online by the employer in which a commitment is made to employ a foreigner according to an employment agreement, or an employment agreement. At the mediation letter, the employer should confirm that the foreigner has a suitable professional qualification, which meets the requirements of the job description;
  • A written undertaking to declare the place of residence.

Step 2

The Process

1. After submission of all documents online, the Migration Department makes a decision on issuing the BlueCard and afterwards, the foreigner is informed by an email. After receiving the confirmation, the foreigner has to book a visit time through the MIGRIS system and come to provide his biometric data.

You are able to start working before the residence permit is issued from the date of the submission of an application for a temporary residence permit.

Important:

  • Your arrival in Lithuania must be legal upon arrival at the Migration Department at the reserved time. You need to apply for visa via Lithuanian consular office in your country.

3. If you intend to work as the manager of a company and your employer has an adequate income, follow this guide:

At the mediation letter, the employer should confirm that the foreigner has a suitable professional qualification, which meets the requirements of the job description;
  • A written undertaking to declare the place of residence;
  • A document confirming the sufficient income of an employer.

Step 2

The process

If you aim to obtain an EU Blue Card and work as the manager of the company – you must fulfill general EU Blue Card criteria:

  • Your salary must be not less than 1.5x the average monthly gross salary in Lithuania ~€2684;
  • You should have a suitable professional qualification (diploma or 5 years of professional experience).

Before the application for an EU Blue Card, the sufficient income of an employer must be assessed:

  • An application (together with sets of annual financial statements);
  • A certificate completed by an auditor;
  • A document attesting the auditor for the issue of a document confirming the sufficient annual income of an employer must be submitted by email bluecard@investlithuania.com. More about the process, please read here. The assessment of the sufficient income of an employer takes not longer than 20 working days after the submission of the application together with all necessary documents.
